Social Media During Vacation

After vacation, take your time selecting the most interesting and relevant shots to upload to Facebook

 STORY HIGHLIGHTS

Editor’s note: Brenna Ehrlich and Andrea Bartz are the sarcastic brains behind humor blog and book Stuff Hipsters Hate. When they’re not trolling Brooklyn for new material, Ehrlich works as a news editor at Mashable.com, and Bartz holds the same position at Psychology Today.

meg m roberts: Shifting the Social Media Marketing Paradigm

megmroberts:

Shifts in thinking are happening among social media marketers. It’s not a massive shift by any means, but it appears that more communicators are beginning to address the issue that has been the white elephant in the room: does social media actually work for brands?

It began when I saw Bob…

Art Representative

While doing research for a possible business in my future, I came across an eHow.com article giving me my possible future in 7 short steps. Well, that’s good I guess… But I think the thing that really gets me is the difficulty level, rightfully categorized as: Moderately Easy. (Note: “How to Add Album Art to iTunes” is at the same level.) Oh well, um okay.

…And I don’t have pictures yet

because that would just improve this blog entry by a lot. BUT, there was a photographer at the event, so perhaps if an album is posted on Facebook, I can borrow some of those for a slideshow in an entry that follows.

Basically, the magazine I work for (Vertical Tampa Bay) teamed up with Neiman Marcus and Feeding America TB to host an event called:

A Vertical Evening at Neiman Marcus to Benefit Feeding America Tampa Bay

A mouth-full to say I know. Imagine having to say that 40+ times over the phone reminding guests to RSVP!

Leslie Joy’s other assistant Natalia sat with me at a table promoting the magazine and inviting people to subscribe. (You should go ahead and sign up on the website, it’s complimentary FOR life, and the email you will get is the magazine which comes out quarterly).

I encourage ANYONE who wants to get into a specific industry whether it be from a media standpoint or anything else, to find an internship that involves meeting new people and working with the public. For instance, events like the one I just described.

These kinds of events are great, because I really get to meet and network with highly-regarded people in the scene that I want to get into. One woman in particular I met tonight. Turns out I actually went to school with her daughter back in the day! She gave me 2 pieces of vital information for people who want to get into media today / for the future. I’ll share those in the next couple of posts.

BTW I looked super cute in my dress. just sayin. I’ll post photos of my outfit when I get around to it as well.

Why This Blog.

I’m an avid blog follower. Not only do I follow over 100 blogs here on tumblr, but I also have a few RSS feeds that I have set up on my Safari browser by category: Bike, Fashion, Art, Media, News.

I like themed blogs. I think that being said, it really shows my personality. I love eclecticism, but love it even more when it can all flow and tie nicely together. This is what I was struggling with my personal blog. You could say that my personal blog has a certain feel to it with some recurring themes, but other than the word “inspiration,” could I sum it up with just one word.

With that being said, this is my new project. Although the name suggests that it will be everything PR related, I want to expand to media in general. I will touch on things like… my internship, things I come across on the internet, what I learn in school… As well, I will reblog entries that pertain to this theme.

Feel free to submit things to me so I can post them with credit, of course.
